This is the Mono toggle in the Channel settings. In most basic synths, this is a prerequisite for pitch interpolation. In general synth lingo, monophonic simply means "one note at a time." Any new note will cause the old note to stop playing. You'll find them by clicking the cogwheel icon in a channel window, and activating the wrench tab. The Mono and Porta switches, along with the Slide knob, are two examples of this. They're rough equivalents of MIDI plugins in other DAW:s. Most Channels (instruments) in FL have various switches and behaviors that happen BEFORE the notes get sent to the synth.
